What Medicare covers depends on the coverage you choose.  If you are on “Original Medicare“, you can check to see if something is covered by entering the procedure, test etc… in a coverage tool located on the Medicare.gov website. Click Here to see if your procedure or test are covered. 

It is important to know that although you can go to any doctor or specialist with “Original Medicare”, not all doctors or specialist accept Medicare insurance so it is important to check with the doctor before your appointment to see if they accept Medicare Insurance.

If you choose a Medicare Advantage Plan, then to check to see if a procedure, service or test is covered, you MUST check with your Medicare Advantage provider.  Medicare Advantage plans are operated by private insurance companies and they may cover different services, procedures or tests than “Original Medicare”.

Lastly, if your PDP plan is not packaged as part of your Medicare Advantage plan,  you will have an insurance plan which covers your PDP plan and you would check with them to see if a particular drug is covered or has specific guidelines / limitations.
