What if I am on Medicaid?
If you are currently on Medicaid and are turning 65, you still need to sign up for Medicare.
It is important to note that Medicare is a FEDERAL run insurance program whereas Medicaid is a STATE run insurance program. However, once you turn 65, the Medicaid program you would be enrolled in is specifically designed to work with the federal Medicare plan.
In addition, there are a number of state plans which take into consideration your income status. This is also true when considering your PDP plan. Your state plans will have various plans which may offset the cost of the PDP if your income does not support making a monthly payment for a PDP plan.
